- Protruding, loose or sagging abdomen
- Excess stomach fat and skin
- Loss of abdominal control due to pregnancy or aging
You’ve done everything you can to get rid of the excess on your abdomen and it just isn’t going away. Sound familiar? If so, a tummy tuck by Dr. Kagan could be the perfect procedure for you. A tummy tuck, sometimes called an abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure that can correct a protruding, loose or sagging abdomen.
Common causes of abdominal sagging include:
- Multiple pregnancies
- Significant fluctuations in weight
- Spine abnormalities that affect posture
In general, an abdominoplasty is used to remove excess fat and skin. In some cases, the tummy tuck procedure can restore weakened or separated muscles of the abdomen (diastasis). Under general anesthesia, Dr. Kagan performs abdominal contouring using a variety of techniques, including liposuction or excision. A horizontal incision in the area between the pubic hairline and the navel is required and will vary in shape and length depending on the degree of correction necessary. For patients, a second incision may be necessary around the navel to reshape the upper abdomen as well.
